Why Our Mission Matters

Seven out of ten families whose children attend St. Lucie Public Schools meet the Federal poverty guidelines for free or reduced meals.

Poverty impacts every facet of our community from student achievement, business development, social service needs, crime and delinquency, and the purchasing power of our citizens. Poverty also impacts hope for a future and, as countless studies have shown, can have a negative impact on educational attainment.

Families of the Treasure Coast is taking on the challenges associated with poverty while providing all parents, regardless of economic circumstance, with needed resources and information that will help their children excel in school and in life. This will be done through online and face-to-face trainings on a wide variety of topics, including financial management, health and safety, student achievement, child behavioral and emotional development, and improvement of the parent’s work readiness and educational attainment. In addition, Families of the Treasure Coast will provide resources and seminars that will help whenever, and wherever, help is needed.
